When we think of a workspace, often times a dreary, boring desk comes to mind. But in order to make the most of our time, our workspace should be a place we look forward to actually working in. Somewhere you can get things done + feel ready to take on the day. Follow these seven tips in order to create the most positive workspace you can —

1. MAKE IT YOUR OWN

If you’re someone who doesn’t like to work at a plain, old desk, then try + mix it up. Decorate your space + make it unique to you. Bring in photos or quotes that help keep you motivated. With Christmas around the corner, there are endless opportunities to make your space one you look forward to working in each day!

2. TAKE TIME TO RELAX

When you’re doing the same job for a long period of time, you may end up tired + unfocused. Take some time for yourself so you can remain alert + at your best. Grab another employee + try to get to know them better. Whether this means finding a cozy spot in the office to hang out or leaving the building for a walk, find a way to clear your mind + #reCHAARG.

3. HAVE SOMEWHERE TO WRITE DOWN IDEAS

When we find a new idea popping into our head, it sometimes leaves as quickly as it came. In order to keep hold on those thoughts, find a way to write them down. A fun whiteboard or cute notepad make for great places to jot down all of your random ideas. A positive workspace is always developing + changing, making new ideas essential to this growth.

4. COMMUNICATE OPENLY WITH OTHERS

If you have questions — ask them. If you have ideas — share them. Open communication allows for employees to not only work together, but to create something new to make their workplace even better. Make sure you’re communicating with others in order to get the most out of your job/internship. This way you’ll make connections that will last for years + hopefully some new friends along the way!

5. ASK FOR FEEDBACK

The work we do in college is crucial to our future job/career. Ask your fellow employees for feedback on what you should work on or what you should continue to do. Always look for ways to improve. This way, you learn valuable tips + information that will not only help you now, but after you graduate as well. Remember to always be #inCHAARG + work on becoming the happiest + healthiest version of yourself.

6. SAY THANK YOU

Although this may seem simple, it will certainly stand out to your fellow employees. Show others that you appreciate them, whether they gave you some advice or helped you out with a project. A positive workplace is full of others who encourage + support one another. Do your part by being grateful + showing others that they matter to you.

7. CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESSES

What better way to be positive than to celebrate something? No matter what it is you’ve done, if you’ve done it well, celebrate. Finally tackling an important project, receiving good feedback from your boss + getting all your work done before the weekend hits allow for you to #treatyoself ; ) You work hard + should be proud of how far you’ve come!

The difference between a positive workplace + negative workplace is incredible. By getting to know your coworkers + taking time to #reCHAARG, you’ll be amazed at the work you can get done. Remember – positive mind, positive vibes, positive life.
